Casper Named Community Member Of The Month

Eureka resident Tonya Casper was recognized Friday, March 6, as the first Community Member of the Month for 2026 for her efforts to improve the community.

Casper received multiple nominations highlighting her work to promote healthy lifestyles and organize community activities. In her nomination, Kelly Kirkpatrick said Casper has helped organize events such as the Christmas chili cookoff and carriage rides, decorated hay bales at the stoplight intersection and arranged for artwork to be painted on the gym’s windows. Kirkpatrick also noted Casper offers additional fitness classes in her spare time, including some at the local pool.

Brooke Burden also nominated Casper, noting she has created events that bring residents together and has taken initiative on simple projects such as decorating sidewalks to enhance the town’s appearance for both residents and visitors. As a monthly recipient, Casper will now be eligible for Community Member of the Year, which will be voted on by residents in December 2026 and January 2027.

Community members may nominate individuals for Community Member of the Month by using the QR code or submitting their name/ contact info, the nominee’s name/contact info and the reason for the nomination to [email protected]. Forms are also available at The Eureka Herald, LoMar Drive-In and the City of Eureka water office.

Individuals named Community Member of the Month in 2025 are not eligible for the 2026 honor but will again be eligible in 2027. Those receiving the special honor during 2025 included: DeLacy Mitchell, Laura Wallace, Connie Mitchell, Larry and Jo Evans, Christine Mouer and Michele Seeley.
