The Madison girls basketball team wrapped up its season Tuesday night with a determined effort against Pretty Prairie, battling until the final buzzer before falling, 27-32.
“Our Lady Bulldogs played their hearts out,” stated head coach Brett Dannels. “They left everything they had on the floor and should hold their heads high and be proud of what they accomplished this season,” he continued.
Madison got off to a strong start, edging Pretty Prairie 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs continued to control the tempo in the second quarter and took a narrow 15-14 lead into halftime.
Pretty Prairie responded in the third quarter, outscoring Madison and left the Lady Bulldogs trailing 20-24 going into the final stanza.
Despite a determined effort down the stretch, the Bulldogs were unable to close the gap and fell 2732.
Pretty Prairie went on to defeat Norwich in double overtime, 41-35, and will compete at state this week.
Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Caylin Luthi and Jenna Thomsen each with 9 points, Kam White 7 and Rylee Darbro contributed two.
Madison concluded the season with a 13-9 overall record.
