The Eureka High School boys ended their season in Pittsburg against the St. Mary’s Colgan Panthers. They lost 30-56 to a very tough and athletic Colgan team that was able to throw fresh players at the Tornadoes and simply wore them out, last Friday, Feb. 27.
The Tornadoes opened the game playing well, matching the Panthers bucket for bucket and rebound for rebound. The quarter ended in a 12-12 tie. The second quarter, however, sunk the Tornadoes as they were able to score only one point and allowed the Panthers to score 17. This sank any hopes of a Tornado upset.
The second half was respectable, with the Tornadoes being outscored by 10, 17-27. The Panthers could continually feed in fresh players which the Tornadoes could not match.
Junior Tyson Coon led the Tornadoes with 13 points. Sophomore Brody Mitchell had 7 and senior Cole Ptacek and junior Easton Mead had 5 points each.
