On day 6 of the 4 corners, 50 counties tour, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), spent the day on the ground in Central Kansas, walking store aisles, touring factories, and visiting classrooms. Along the way, he celebrated small business successes, workforce training wins, and tax relief that is keeping more hardearned money in Kansans’ pockets.
In Clyde, Senator Marshall toured the town’s only grocery store with owner Steve James, who has expanded offerings and grown sales despite industry challenges. The Senator discussed renewing enforcement of the Robinson-Patman Act to ensure small grocers can compete fairly with big-box chains and keep prices affordable for rural families.
In Delphos, Senator Marshall visited AVI Training Academy, which transformed a long-vacant school into a thriving automotive training center after relocating its headquarters to Kansas. Discussions centered on expanding technical and diesel mechanic programs to meet workforce needs.
At Elyria Christian School in McPherson County, Senator Marshall spoke with high school seniors about the Constitution and civic responsibility, providing each student with a pocket Constitution. He highlighted school choice tax credits included in the Working Families Tax Cuts, which give families more educational options and support scholarship opportunities for students.
At AGCO’s Hesston facility, the largest employer in Harvey County, Senator Marshall toured baler production lines and discussed policies like full expensing and bonus depreciation to help manufacturers reinvest and protect Kansas jobs.
At McConnell Air Force Base, Senator Marshall visited the Department of Defense STARBASE program, which introduces students to hands-on STEM education. Kansas is home to five STARBASE sites serving more than 8,000 students each year.
Senator Marshall secured $53 million for STARBASE in the latest defense appropriations bill ensuring Kansas students can continue accessing science and technology opportunities.
In Eureka, Senator Marshall toured Invena Corporation, a Kansas-based manufacturer serving aerospace, energy and chemical processing industries in more than 70 countries. The company designs and builds specialized equipment and has restored the historic Santa Fe Railway Depot as part of its operations.
Conversations focused on expanding export opportunities, supporting innovation, election, healthcare, budget issues in the federal government, dedication to trade and connecting Kansas manufacturers with federal resources to compete globally.
