TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced recently that the City of Eureka has secured federal Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) funding through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program for two airport improvement projects. Through the programs, a total over $2.5 million in federal IIJA and AIG was secured for 10 Kansas counties.
“Investing in Kansas’ airport infrastructure is crucial to enhancing connectivity and supporting local economies across the state,” Governor Kelly said. “I’m pleased that these projects are receiving vital infrastructure grants, which will not only improve our airports but also strengthen the entire state’s transportation network.”
The City of Eureka received funding for the following projects: Apron Construction – Design Only: • Build Kansas Funding: $4,037;
• Federal Funding Awarded: $80,750;
• Applicant Contribution: $213;
•Total Project: $85,000 Fuel Farm Installation: • Build Kansas Funding: $22,200; • Federal Funding Awarded: $444,000;
• Applicant Contribution: $1,168;
•Total Project: $467,368 Combined, these two projects represent a total investment of $552,368 in airport infrastructure improvements for the City of Eureka.
The Build Kansas Fund provides state matching dollars for projects throughout Kansas that successfully apply for federal grants under IIJA.
