Eureka Music Club

Eureka Music Club met at Christ Lutheran Church on February 9 with 11 members in attendance.

Following a short business meeting, Robin Himes introduced the program with the theme “Favorite Love Songs.”

To begin the program Rise Russin played “Till the End of Time” based on Chopin’s Polonaise in A-flat Major, Opus 53. Grace Stacy accompanied Sue Ellen Wenthe as she sang “The Rose”, made popular by Bette Midler in 1979. Marla DeGraffenreid entertained the group with two selections, the first being “I’ll Never Stop Loving You” sung by Doris Day in the 1955 movie Love Me or Leave Me. De-Graffenreid followed that with a piano solo entitled Traumerei, by Schumann. Jean Edwards shared a piano solo “Heart of My Heart” a song popular with barber shop quartets. Carolyn Perrier played a piano solo from the 1953 movie Can Can. The song, titled “I Love Paris,” was written by Cole Porter. To end the program Himes played “People Will Say We’re in Love” from Roger and Hammerstein’s 1943 Broadway musical and 1955 movie “Oklahoma.”

Following the program delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses.

The next Eureka Music Club meeting will be on March 9.
