Competed At Three Rivers League Round Robin

The West Elk High School boys wrestling team battled through a tough field on Feb. 10 at the Three Rivers League 6-team round robin hosted by Jayhawk Linn High School in Mound City.

West Elk lost several bouts due to open weight classes (106, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 175 and 215). The Patriots fell to Burden-Central, 18-24; fell to Erie, 18-19 after a tie-breaker decision was given to Erie/St. Paul; fell to Mound City-Jayhawk Linn/Pleasanton 9-60; lost to Uniontown, 24-25 after a tie-breaker coin flip given to Uniontown; and lost to Richmond-Central Heights, 18-36.

Following are the match results for West Elk wrestlers:

113: Welch Murphy won by default over Burden- Central; lost by fall to William Weber (Erie/St. Paul) Fall 0:53; lost by fall to Landon Higgins (Mound City-Jayhawk Linn/Pleasanton) Fall 0:44; won by default over Uniontown; and won by default over Richmond- Central Heights.

165: Corbin Arbuckle won by default over Burden- Central; won by fall over Anthony Pasquarelli (Erie/St. Paul) Fall 0:39; lost by fall to Brady Felt (Mound City-Jayhawk Linn/Pleasanton) Fall 1:30; won by default over Uniontown; and lost by fall to Gage Peine (Richmond- Central Heights) Fall 1:42.

190: Landon Wunderlich lost by fall to Max Bergman (Burden-Central) Fall 1:04; won by default over Erie/St. Paul; won a 29-24 decision over Paul John Haen (Mound City-Jayhawk Linn/Pleasanton); won by default over Uniontown; and won by fall over Attikus Rodriguez (Richmond- Central Heights) Fall 1:45 285: Edward Metcalf won by default over Burden- Central; won by default over Erie/St. Paul; won by default over Mound City-Jayhawk Linn/Pleasanton; won by default over Uniontown; and and won by default over Richmond- Central Heights.

Patriot wrestlers will travel to Eureka this Saturday, Feb. 21 for 3-1A boys regional action, beginning at 10 a.m. The top four in each weight class will advance to the 3-1A state contest in Hays, Feb. 27-28.
