Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club

The monthly meeting of the Madison Pacesetters was called to order by President Caylin Luthi on Feb. 4. Howdy Seaton led the club in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. The roll call was “What is your favorite dessert?” Roll call was answered by 40 members, two cloverbuds and two leaders. A quorum was present.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read aloud by Secretary Jorja Beeman and were approved by signing by President Caylin Luthi. The treasurer’s report was given by Wyatt Hoag. The reporter’s report was given by Haddie Mae Seaton. Ty Gaines stated that if anyone was in council they need to be at Model Meeting at 7:30 a.m. and be ready to go.

Gaines gave his leader’s report on number drawing after Model Meeting on Feb. 21, for Junk in a Bucket. Gaines told everyone that individual sign up opens up on Feb. 17. Kansas Maid handouts are due Feb. 21. Everyone needs to sign the thank you card for the donations that were made to the 4-H club. There will be an exchange meeting with Hamilton at the Hamilton High School on April 12.

There was no old business. In new business, the club discussed that the bills need to be paid.

The gavel was then passed to the Vice President Cooper Luthi for the program, Happy Birthday was sung to Wyatt Stock and Eli Luthi. Pate Schankie had a parliamentary tip about the number of members that had to be present for the meeting to be counted. Lane Henke had a parliamentary tip about withdrawing a vote. Kenyon Curry had a project talk about his shotgun. John Curry had a project talk about archery. Kathern Curry had a project talk about woodworking. Reese Curry gave everyone a short story about her favorite book. E. Luthi gave a project talk about making homemade goat feeders. Carver McDonald had a project talk about his first buck poster and how he organized it. Leora Luthi had a demonstration about “Bringing back the braid!” L. Luthi showed the group how to make rugs like the one in Little House on the Prairie.

Bennett Raaf had a presentation on how to make preservation clay and how it works. Mason McDonald had a project talk about his horse. Mc-Donald showed the club how to use slit reins in western events. Kiah Luthi had a demonstration on how to “Fix A Feast.” K. Luthi showed everyone how to set the table and meal prep, plan, and manage time.

The gavel was then passed back to the President Caylin Luthi for the remainder of the meeting. McDonald moved to adjourn the meeting by saying the 4-H motto, and the motion passed. Amos Schankie led the club in saying the 4-H motto and the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting is March 4, at the Sauder Center.
