Eureka wrestlers had a busy week last week with multiple meets, but the most important meets are fast approaching as regional action begins this week.
The Lady Tornadoes will travel to Silver Lake this Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14 for a super regional action. The top eight from each weight class advance to the 3-1A State Tournament Feb. 26-27. Eureka will host a boys 3-1A Regional on Saturday, Feb. 21, with the top four in each weight class advancing to the state contest, Feb. 26-27.
Following are the individual results for Eureka wrestlers from last week’s action: Flint Hills League Girls Tournament 125: Maela Neill (23-11) placed 1st. She won by fall over York Wyatt (Burlingame) 1-10 (Fall 1:09); won by injury default over Taylar Johnson (West Franklin) 0-9 (Inj. 0:08); won by fall over Janice Millan (Emporia) 10-15 (Fall 1:17); and won by fall over Kassidy Krueger (Chase County) 1817 (Fall 1:35).
TVL Boys 2026 120: Maddox Hughes (11-15) placed 2nd. He won by fall over Bentley Tong (Bluestem Boys) 4-14 (Fall 1:00); and lost a 9-19 major decision to Silas Good (Caney Valley Boys) 17-5 (MD 19-9), 138: Christian Sanchez (56) placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Tucker Reed (Bluestem Boys) 22-12 (Fall 2:56); lost by fall to Kristopher May (Fredonia Boys) 16-9 (Fall 2:45); and won by fall over Aston Evans (Neodesha Boys) 2-8 (Fall 1:03).
