Claimed 42-28 Victory Over Chase County

The Eureka Lady Tornadoes hosted the Chase County Bulldogs on Tuesday, February 3, facing their fourth game in six days. Despite visible fatigue, Eureka showed grit and composure, holding on for a 42–28 victory.

Eureka came out firing in the opening quarter. Lydia Mason opened the scoring with a three-pointer and the Lady Tornadoes’ pressure defense immediately took control. Brenna Rucker, Britta Mongeau and Arabella Shepherd forced turnovers that led to easy baskets. Rucker scored seven points in the quarter, Mongeau added four, and Shepherd chipped in three as Eureka held Chase County scoreless in the first quarter.

The Lady Tornadoes cooled off in the second quarter, struggling from behind the arc until Sydney Lindamood knocked down a three from the wing. Mason followed with another long-range basket. After a brief 6–0 Bulldog run, Hannah Perrier stopped the momentum with a strong putback basket and Alaina Westerman finished off a Shepherd assist to give Eureka a 17–8 halftime lead.

Offense was harder to come by in the second half as Eureka managed just 15 points while allowing 18 to the visitors. The Lady Tornadoes shot an uncharacteristic 20 percent from the field but relied on defense to close out the win.

Seven Lady Tornadoes scored in the contest. Rucker led the way with 11 points, followed by Mongeau with 7, Mason with 6, Perrier with 5, Shepherd with 5, Lindamood with 3, Westerman with 3, and Milly Koop with 2. Rucker also led the team with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
