Eureka Wrestling Club Represented At Battle Of The Belt & Iola Kids Wrestling Tournament
The Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) was represented at two tournaments over the weekend, with wrestlers claiming hardware at both.
EWC’s Lakyn McCoy claimed third place at the Battle of The Belt Girls tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7 and 15 members placed in the top four at Iola on Sunday, Feb. 8. In addition to the medals, EWC wrestlers also brought home two additional honors as Maelyn Vinson had the fastest pin of the day in the 8U age group and Adleigh Ray was named Most Valuable 14U Wrestler of the tournament.
Following are the invidual match wins for EWC participants:
Battle of The Belt Girls 15U Girls 148: Lakyn Mc-Coy placed 3rd. She won by fall over Kayleen Bradford (Scott City) (Fall 1:29); won by fall over KaLiyah Bowen (Trailblazer) (Fall 1:24); and won by fall over Kymberlyn Mills (Power House) (Fall 1:03).
Iola Kids Wrestling 6U Boys-43-43: Remington Winn placed 1st. He won by fall over Colton Gericke (Chanute Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:50); and won by fall over Ethan Culbertson (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:14).
6U Boys-45-46: Korbynn Winn placed 4th.
10U Boys-93-102: Carter Ring placed 4th.
8U Boys-57-59: Jad Day placed 1st. He won a 14-1 major decision over Coleson Durand (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling); and won by fall over Ripken Metcalf (Fort Scott Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:31).
8U Boys-58-61: Maddox Ring placed 4th. He won a 15-0 tech fall over Kash O`donnell (Parsons Wrestling Club).
8U Boys-66-68: Graham Bechtel placed 1st. He won by fall over Wyatt Cole (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:16); won by fall over Jaxon Jamison (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:41); won an 8-0 major decision over Stone Neria (Iola Kids Wrestling); and won an 8-0 major decision over Carson Gericke (Chanute Wrestling Club).
8U Boys Novice-74-78: Leo Whitehead placed 4th. He won by fall over Ricardo Guerrero (Iola Kids Wrestling) (Fall 1:19) 12U Boys-61-70: Tanner Wade placed 4th.
12U Boys-104-112: Keon Jones placed 3rd. He won by fall over Liam Richards (Wellsville Kid Matters) (Fall 1:30).
12U Boys Novice-78-83: Carter Winn placed 1st. He won by fall over Luke Kelley (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 4:09); and won by fall over Andrew Matney (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 4:13).
6U Girls-51-55: Brianne Bechtel placed 4th.
8U Girls-65-67: Oaklyn Smith placed 2nd. She won by fall over Sadie Madl (DC Gold) (Fall 0:42); and won by fall over Amber Star (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:46).
8U Girls-96-107: Maelyn Vinson placed 1st. She won by fall over Evelyn Sellman (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:20); and won by fall over Evelyn Sellman (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:18).
12U Girls-142-142: Kinslee Vinson placed 2nd.
14U Girls-110-114: Adleigh Ray placed 1st. She won by fall over Brylee Burgell (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:05); and won by fall over Cayleigh Rutherford (Iola Kids Wrestling) (Fall 1:26).
