The Eureka Junior High basketball teams traveled to Neodesha last Thursday, Jan. 30, where the Lady Tornadoes claimed the victories.
Eureka’s A-team Ladies trailed throughout the contest, but that didn’t stop them from upsetting the undefeated Bluestreaks in the last second with a jumpshot by seventh grader Braxtyn Evenson. Eureka trailed 4-9 after one, 13-18 at half and 21-22 after three. The Lady Tornadoes claimed a 25-24 victory as time ran out. Scoring for Eureka were Evenson 7, Molly Dehlinger and Bella Damron each with 6 and Alivia Hare, Raegen Ashlock and Mia Ptacek all with 2. Eureka’s B-team girls played two quarters, with the Tornadoes claiming an early 15-7 lead. Eureka again outscored the Bluestreaks in the second, 9-8, to win the game 24-15. Scoring for Eureka were Kinslee Cox 10, Ashlock 8, Ptacek 3, Brielle Thompson 2 and Hare 1.
The boys teams weren’t able to come away with a victory.
Eureka’s A-team boys fell 17-46. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Cord Adkins 9, Liam Mead 4, Henry Lindamood 3 and Donovan Owings 1.
The B-team boys fell 11-28. Scoring for Eureka were Asher Euler 5, Bryson Gilbert 4 and Brandon Cornett 2.
Eureka’s C-team boys lost 9-10. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Brannon Blakley 4, Casen Wamsher 3 and Blake Wells 2.
