Tornado Boys Basketball Battled Yellowjackets In Overtime Thriller

The Eureka High School boys basketball team put together a gritty weekend at home, battling through a snow-delayed contest with Caney Valley before pushing Fredonia to overtime the following night. Despite coming up short on the scoreboard in both games, theTornadoes showed toughness and improvement, turning in one of their strongest defensive efforts of the season.

Eureka vs. Caney

The Eureka High School boys returned home Thursday night to play the snow-delayed game scheduled Tuesday against the Caney Valley Bullpups. The Tornadoes lost this game 47-61.

As is their custom, the Tornadoes played hard for all four quarters, and actually shot 40% from the field but were out-rebounded by the bigger Caney Valley squad by 11. Those rebounds, and the Tornadoes’ foul troubles, consistently undermined a great effort by Eureka.

Junior Tyson Coon scored 15 points for the Tornadoes. Senior Cole Ptacek had 12 and sophomore Brody Mitchell had 9. Junior Easton Mead and Senior J.P. Guillaume had 4 each. Senior Nate Clark and Junior Kotah Davis dropped 2 and 1 respectively.
