Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board Of Education

The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education meeting opened on Jan. 12 at 6:02 p.m. with the Oath of Office being given to the newly elected board members.

Board member Dallas Luthi was approved as the President and Jannette Luthi was approved as the Vice-President for 2026.

The December regular and special board meeting minutes and the agenda, with updates, were approved.

Marcie Harrison discussed the Senior Cruise Night on April 19.

Superintendent Dallas Woolf recognized Thomas Scott and Lisa Kile for the Christmas programs they organized. Principal Amanda Schild recognized Sarah Adams for organizing the projects that her students are involved with in the community.

Superintendent Woolf presented gift bags to the board members for Board Appreciation Month.

OPAA director, Lizbeth Nava, gave a Food Service update.

The Business by Consent, Current Accounts Payable totaling $176,147.89, Treasurer’s Report and Activity Fund Report were all approved as presented.

Superintendent Woolf gave a 2nd reading on Board Policy Updates.

Board members approved the KASB Board Policy updates as presented.

Information items discussed were KESA Action Plan, football scoreboard, District Calendar, 20262027 Class Schedules, and Building updates and Bond procedures.

Principal Schild discussed Madison Elementary activities and projects, along with the upcoming spelling bee and Near and Dear day.

Superintendent Woolf gave updates to the board on MJSHS activities, as well as the Christmas program and Negotiations training.

The board held a 5-minute executive session to discuss personnel matters for employee performance to include Superintendent Woolf. After returning to open meeting, the board approved to extend Principal Schild’s contract for 2 years, with salary to be determined at a later date.

A 15-minute executive session was held with the board and Superintendent Woolf to discuss the teacher contract pursuant to negotiations. After returning to open meeting, no decisions were made.

The meeting adjourned at 8:08 p.m. The next meeting of the Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education will be held on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
