Well, we got some snow. A fairly good amount at that. I was sweeping off the ramp at the back door and after clearing about half of it, I stepped next to the edge of the snow and measured where it hit on the side of my foot.

When I came back in I measured with a measuring stick and we had six inches of snow. On Monday, I swept the front steps and porch and boy was it ever cold. Came back in and checked the thermometer and it had 0°. That is cold. Colder than I like.

What is “semiquincentennial?”

The pleated woodpecker was sure busy this Monday morning. I could hear him outside drilling away on something. No mistaking their noise.

Answer: 250th anniversary. Our country will be celebrating it’s 250th anniversary or birthday, whichever you want to call it. The celebrations officially kick off on Presidents Day on Feb. 16, with the majority of the celebrations being on July 4.

This week is pretty cold, maybe next week will be better, but I doubt it. My birthday is the 3rd and it usually is cold and snowy. After the weather this week, I think I would like to see the temperatures in the 50s.
