Madison City Council

The Madison City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the Jan. 5 meeting, which were approved at a recent meeting.

The Madison City Council held their regular meeting on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. The agenda, Dec. 18, 2025 minutes, Accounts Payable and Water Adjustments were approved. Mayor Paul Dean and Councilmember Kyle Engle were sworn in.

The following appointments were made: City Clerk Alice Grimm; Madison News as the official city newspaper; City Judge Ted Hollenbeck; City Attorney Clark Allemang; Citizens State Bank as the city depository and Acting Treasurer Mike Peroo.

Discussion was held regarding roof repairs on 225 1/2 West Main. The board discussed having insurance inspect the rood. The council approved to pay $16,500 to Shull Roofing. The council was also presented with the hay bids ad to be place in the newspaper. Councilman Tony Fankhauser requested to note in the ad that it must be burned off every 3 years for brush control.

The council approved the purchase of a 32-inch TV in the amount of $88 plus tax from Walmart for cameras at the office.

The council discussed security for the pool.

The camp host was discussed. The council approved to keep Kevin and Connie Kelly for another year. It was noted that K. Kelly asked for more fire pits for the lake.

The council approved to authorize Mayor Dean to file tax exemption on behalf of the council for the Lincoln Street property.

A total of four Executive Sessions were held, 5-minutes each, for Non-Elected Personnel for Employee Review. After returning to open session, no decisions were made.

The council held a 10-minute Executive Session for Non-Elected Personnel for Employee Review to include Deputy Clerk Cassondra Jordan. No decision was made after returning to open meeting.

The council held an Executive Session for Legal. (No time was given). After returning to open meeting, no decision was made.

Topics discussed in Old Business included: generator repairs, culverts, the hydro vac, sander belt, truck repairs, water plant lights, pool needs and road repairs.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the Madison City Council will be held on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
