A shop was deemed a total loss last Monday, Jan. 12, after receiving significant damage after a neighboring burn barrel fire spread to the structure.
According to Greenwood County Fire Chief Glen Collinge, crews were first dispatched Monday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. Fire crews were initially paged to a reported yard fire, but upon arrival the incident was upgraded to a structure fire at 1589 AA20, in Neal.
Responders found a shop building fully involved, with several vehicles and trailers adjacent to the structure also on fire. Greenwood County Fire Divisions: Neal, Central and Severy, along with Eureka City Fire responded to the scene to contain the blaze.
Crews were again dis- patched after the fire rekin dled that evening just shortly before 11:30 p.m.
Despite efforts, the shop and the nearby vehicles were deemed a total loss. The incident was brought under control later in the evening, with crews clearing the scene around 11:23 p.m.
The property is owned by Dan McCollough. No injuries were reported.
