Eureka Tornado Wrestling To Host Annual Tournament This Saturday, Jan. 24

The Eureka High School wrestling program will host its annual Eureka Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 24, welcoming a strong field of teams from across the region for a full day of competitive boys and girls wrestling.

Invited teams for this year’s tournament include: Bluestem, Burlington, Caney Valley, Central of Burden, Central Heights, Cherryvale, Clearwater, Coffeyville, Columbus, Douglass, El Dorado, Erie, Eureka, Flinthills, Garden Plain, Herington, Hillsboro, Humboldt, Iola, Marion, McPherson Girls, Newton, Remington, Rose Hill, Rossville, St. Marys, Uniontown, West Elk and Winfield.

Wrestling is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. The boys competition will take place in the main gym, while girls competition will be held in the Tornado Activity Center (TAC). Finals will be run on three mats in each gym.

Individual awards will be presented to the top five fin ishers in each weight class, with team honors being awarded to the top three teams. Additional awards to be presented include “Outstanding Wrestler,” selected by coaches; Most Pins (most falls in the least amount of time by a tourna- ment finalist); and Sports manship Plaque: Selected by coaches’ vote.
