Routine Business Discussed By Commission

The Greenwood County Commissioners held a routine business meeting on Monday, Jan. 12.

During new business, Commissioner Judd Everitt asked Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) CEO Sandra Dickerson for additional details regarding the billing procedure at GWCH. Everitt stated that he recently heard concerns from multiple constituents who noted difficulty in rectifying their accounts. CEO Dickerson shared that GWCH is currently in transition between Athena and Cerner, but bills are currently in both software systems. She elaborated that they continued to keep bills in both due to a prior issue they encountered during a transfer. With names not being shared during the public meeting, Dickerson stated it was difficult to address concerns as the topic was vague in nature; however, suggested that anyone with concerns regarding the hospital should contact the GWCH. She also noted that typically accounts being referred to collections hadn’t seen a payment applied for nine months. One concern that was shared later in the meeting was that a constituent was making payments; however, it was applied as a credit to another household member’s account. CEO Dickerson concluded her time with the commission by noting that if someone notices a payment wasn’t applied to the account, they should reach out to the GWCH as soon as possible.

The commission approved Resolution 2025-58, pertaining to the court system’s year-end transfers.

Sheriff Heath Samuels presented an annual contract with CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness which would go into effect if a sheriff’s office employee was to receive service. The contract allows for the sheriff’s office to receive the services at a discounted rate. The contract was approved.

The commission appointed the following to the Eureka Township officer positions: Everitt as the Trustee, Commissioner Mac Obourn as the Treasurer and Commission Chair Preston Evenson as the Clerk.

The commission held multiple executive sessions with no decisions being made. The commission held a 15-minute executive session with Maintenance Supervisor Greg Rawlings for personnel – legal matters with County Counselor Paul Dean; a 10-minute executive session with Rawlings and Dean for legal matters pertaining to facility management (insurance claim); and a 15-minute executive session with Appraiser Shawna Griffitts for personnel matters regarding a complaint.

Under the clerk’s agenda, the commission approved two cereal malt beverage (CMB) licenses for Troll King, LLC (Tri-Corner at Fall River). The CMB licenses were approved for the bar & grill and the liquor store.

There was no road and bridge report.

Emergency Management Director Levi Vinson shared that he will be attending a National Weather Service meeting in early February.

The commission approved the Jan. 5 meeting minutes and the special payables for Jan. 12, totaling $9,046.09, as presented.

Following adjournment, the commission held a special
