Members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) traveled to Burlington on Sunday, Dec. 11 for the Doug Vander Linden Kids Classic. Due to participation, the event had both a morning and afternoon session.
EWC’s Maddox Ring, Oaklyn Smith, and Kupar Reneau placed 1st in their divisions. Those placing 2nd included: Remington Winn, Brianne Bechtel, Kase Vinson, Cooper Hamilton, Jad Day, Graham Bechtel, Alexander Reneau, Maelyn Vinson, Keon Jones and Adleigh Ray. EWC’s Jaxson Smith, Niko Jones, Carter Winn and Kinslee Vinson placed 3rd and Carter Ring, Leo Whitehead, Tanner Wade and Carson Eismann placed 4th.
Following are the individual match wins for EWC participants: 6u Boys 39-41: Jaxon Smith placed 3rd. He won a 9-1 major decision over Steven Sissel (Cherryvale Wrestling Club). 6u Boys 41-43: Remington Winn placed 2nd. He won a 13-2 major decision over Kason Phillips (Chanute Wrestling Club); and won by fall over Chase Marcotte (The Best Wrestler) (Fall 2:19).
6u Boys 48-49: Niko Jones placed 3rd. He won an 8-5 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Ladoux Skillman (Burlington Wrestling Club).
6u Boys 59-63: Harold ‘Cooper’ Hamilton placed 2nd. He won an 11-7 decision over Paxtyn Stafford (Fredonia Wrestling Club); won a 15-11 decision over Tomas Carranza (The Best Wrestler); and won by fall over Landon Schooley (Chanute Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:18).
6u Boys 63-72: Kase Vinson placed 2nd. He won by fall over Nickolas Bone (Cherryvale Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:25); won by fall over Kian Beck (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:27); and won by fall over Roman Pritchett (Wellsville Kid Matters Wrestling) (Fall 0:42).
10u Boys 100-105: Carter Ring placed 4th.
6U Girls 50-52: Brianne Bechtel placed 2nd. She won a 23-13 major decision over Tilley Nicholson (Osage Indians Wrestling Club); and won by forfeit over Emma Gordon (Burlington Wrestling Club).
8u Girls 66-69: Oaklyn Smith placed 1st. She won by fall over Sabrina Sparks (The Best Wrestler) (Fall 1:53); won by fall over Everly Phares (Wellsville Kid Matters Wrestling) (Fall 0:33); and won by fall over Norah Freeman (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:33).
8u Girls 108-112: Maelyn Vinson placed 2nd.
8u Boys 57-61: Maddox Ring placed 1st. He won a 5-3 decision over Bron Bowman (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling); won by fall over Estin Martin (Circle) (Fall 1:39); and won by fall over Garrett Lingenfelter (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:28).
8u Boys 57-62: Jad Day placed 2nd. He won by forfeit over Fenian Carland (Cherryvale Wrestling Club); and won a 9-1 major decision over Trevor Clark (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling).
8u Boys 65-68: Graham Bechtel placed 2nd. He won an 8-0 major decision over Tristen O`Daniel (Neodesha Wrestling Club); and won a 13-0 major decision over Stone Neria (Iola Kids Wrestling).
8u Boys 95-107: Carson Eismann placed 4th.
