These members of the Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (SFPDAR) being recognized for their membership in the organization. Members of the SFPDAR met at the Butler County Historical Society on December 19th. The members attending were treated to Christmas treats, and also a Christmas Carol Sing-ALong accompanied by Regent Teresa Bachman on the Mountain Dulcimer, and by Joy Pulver from Derby, on the Hammer Dulcimer. The atmosphere in the room became very elevated by the sound of voices, along with the sound of the dulcimers. It was a unique sound and very enjoyable.
Also, at the meeting, many members were recognized for their participation in the organization of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The members receiving certificates for being a part of DAR for twenty-five years were Kathleen Diane Thomas and Leslie Diane Reed Vashler. Two members were recognized for 20 years of membership in DAR. Those members were Jean Groendes and Kathleen Furney. Ten-year certificates were presented to Teresa Bachman, Jessie Bonar, Faith Butler, Bessie Jo Daniel, Tiffany Hansen, Tammy McCarthy, Marsha Todd, and Ann Wimberly.
It was announced that the Veterans’ Home in Winfield, received a generous cash donation and 63 signed Christmas cards, which were greatly appreciated.
Kimberly Ring reported that the American History Essay Contest has a winner. The winner, her parents, and her teacher are invited to share her essay with the members at the Annual Tea, held at the February meeting.
A report about Wreaths Across America, which took place on Dec. 13, 2025, in El Dorado. Members also placed wreaths at the Benton and Bazaar Cemeteries.
Members present included Bachman, Bonar, Kay Catlin, Patty Goedecke, Janet Green, Groendes, Loria Howard, Sharon Mc-Clure, Martha Reidl, Ring, Nita Whiteman, and Wimberly.
The next meeting at the Butler County Historical Society will be the Susannah French Putney Antiques Roadshow, where members can share their antiques and memories with other members. It will be on Jan. 16, at 1 p.m.
