Rockin’ Robin!

Recently, negativity has surrounded me, slowly peeling away layers of peace. In ways, I allowed that negativity to grow in the corner space it was hidden in. But alongside the heaviness, there have also been moments of genuine goodness. The moments of goodness have truly warmed my heart. Knowing that we all face the choice of what we will focus on, I thought I would share an event that brought happy tears to my eyes last week.

When my husband and I were judging our annual coloring contest, we noticed several entries that inspired us to create an Inclusive Special Arts division. After selecting the winners, we reached out to school staff to learn the children’s favorites so we could find meaningful prizes. One young winner loved bull haulers and tractors. During our short outing, we looked for a bull hauler but were unsuccessful and opted to get a tractor. Later, my husband shared this story with a plant operator (who loves Ford Taurus more than Wes). Without being asked, and without any obligation, this man went out of his way to find a bull hauler for a child he had never met, in a community that wasn’t his own. He didn’t have to do it. But he chose to.

That choice matters. In a world that often feels heavy with negativity, these quiet, intentional acts of kindness remind us that good is still very much alive. When we choose to focus on the positive (especially in the midst of difficulty) we don’t ignore the negative; we simply refuse to let it define us. Sometimes, peace begins not with changing our circumstances, but with choosing to see the good that already exists.

I hope this holiday season fills your cup to the brim with kindness, joy and happiness. Wishing all of our readers a very Merry Christmas.
