It was a busy week at home for the Tornadoes as Eureka hosted four home games last week, two of which being junior high games.
The junior high teams first hosted Neodesha on Monday, Dec. 15, going 2-3 overall against the Bluestreaks.
Eureka then hosted the Chargers of Cherryvale on Thursday, Dec. 18, where the girls dominated and claimed both wins.
vs Neodesha
Eureka’s A-team Ladies hung with the Bluestreaks in the first half, being tied at 2 after the first and 11 at the intermission. Neodesha would hold the edge going into the final stanza with Eureka trailing 15-17. The Lady Tornadoes were outscored 2-5 in the final quarter and lost the game 17-22. Scoring for Eureka were Alivia Hare 6, Kaylee Palmer 5, Molly Dehlinger 4 and Bella Damron 2.
In B-team Lady Tornado action, the Lady Tornadoes jumped out to an early 10-6 game and went on to win the two-quarter game 22-10. Scoring for Eureka were Khloe Crisswell 8, Braxtyn Evenson 5, Kinsley Cox 4, Brielle Thompson 3 and Raegen Ashlock 2.
The Tornado boys teams went 1-2 against the Bluestreaks with the sole victory coming from the boys C-team.
Eureka’s A-team boys trailed 4-14 after the first, 7-25 at halftime and 15-37 at the end of the third. The Tornadoes lost the game 21-41. Scoring for Eureka were Cord Adkins 12, Gavin Gonzalez 3, Henry Lindamood and Asher Euler each wtih 2 and Felix Neill and Donovan Owings both with 1.
The Tornado boys B-team had their best quarter in the second, after trailing 2-5, and claimed a 12-10 lead at halftime. Eureka was only able to add four points in the second half, all of which came in the third quarter and lost the game 16-30. Scoring for Eureka were Bryson Gilbert 6, Brandon Cornett and Jessn Ogden each with 4 and Brannon Blakley with 2.
vs Cherryvale
The Lady Tornadoes continued their momentum later in the week to claim both victories over the Chargers.
In A-team action, the Lady Tornadoes jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first. Eureka continued to dominate over the chargers in the second to take a 35-12 lead at halftime. The Tornadoes led 41-25 after three and ultimately claimed a 49-33 win. Eureka’s Dehlinger dominated the boards scoring 24. Also scoring for the Tornadoes were Hare 8, Evenson 6, Damron 5 and Cox and Crisswell each with 3.
Eureka’s B-team Ladies also claimed a commanding lead in the first, leading 15-3 going into the final quarter. The Tornadoes went on to win 26-5. Scoring for Eureka were Crisswell 10, Thompson 7, Cox 4, Ashlock 3 and Evenson 2.
The Tornado boys struggled against the fast-paced Chargers in all three games, scoring a collective 36 points.
In A-team action, the boys trailed 3-18 after the first, 8-36 after two and 10-40 at the end of the third. Eureka lost the game 10-46. Scoring for Eureka were Gonzalez and Adkins each with 3 and Owings and Liam Mead both with 2.
Eureka’s B-team boys scored the most for the Tornadoes, claiming 15 points over the four quarters. They trailed 2-12 after one, 4-23 at half and 10-29 after three. Eureka lost the game 15-35. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Cornett 10, Gilbert and Casen Wamsher each with 2 and Ogden 1. To round out the action, the C-team boys lost the game 11-31. They trailed 2-11 after the first, 7-13 at half and 11-25 at the end of the third. Scoring for Eureka were Blakley 6, Landon Noonan 4 and Marcus Pearce 1.
