The Eureka High School boys beat the Humboldt Cubs Tuesday night to open their home season 72-60. The game was hard-fought throughout, with the Tornadoes pulling away in the fourth quarter as a desperate Humboldt team resorted to fouling in an attempt to close the gap.
The Tornadoes, battling foul trouble most of the game, rebounded well and took care of the ball, cutting their turnovers in half off the season average. In addition, while they didn’t shoot particularly well, they hit key shots when necessary and survived a third quarter run by the Cubs by playing tough defense. Key contributions by senior Davian Damron, juniors Cooper Roberson and Luc Guillaume, and freshman Eli Mason helped 2x3=$46.50 40-1
the Tornadoes survive their foul trouble.
Junior Tyson Coon once again led the Tornadoes with 21 points. Senior J.P. Guillaume had 18, senior Cole Ptacek had 13, junior Kotah Davis had 11 and sophomore Brody Mitchell chipped in 9.
