Four Eureka Tornadoes claimed hardware at the annual Jeff Giles Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 13, in Minneapolis.
The full day of wrestling included several ranked wrestlers. Lady Tornado senior Harlie Owings, currently ranked #1 by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association in the 170 pound class in 3-2-1A, pinned her way to a first place finish. Tornado junior Maela Neill and freshman Tate Scott both pinned their way to the championship. They concluded their day with a second place finish, against tough competition. Tornado freshman Emma Baumgartel also claimed hardware at the annual event, placing third.
Following are the individual results for Eureka participants: Jeff Giles Womens Invitational 110: Emma Baumgartel (7-4) placed 3rd. She received a bye; lost by fall to Reagan Neal (Leon-Bluestem HS) 9-1 (Fall 2:42); won a 15-0 tech fall over Kiya Schultz (Ellsworth) 4-5; lost by fall to Jarynn Hockett (Chanute HS) 8-2 (Fall 0:41); and won by fall over Daytona Mcmillan (Beloit HS) 1-4 (Fall 5:14).
125: Maela Neill (7-4) placed 2nd. She won by fall over Ryanne Drake (Chapman) 0-2 (Fall 0:57); won by fall over Tenley Snavely (Concordia HS) 4-4 (Fall 1:05); won by fall over Sadie Vice (Leon-Bluestem HS) 7-4 (Fall 3:31); and lost by fall to Alyssa Calovich (Chapman) 9-0 (Fall 1:41).
170: Harlie Owings (6-1) placed 1st. She received a bye; won by fall over Savannah Marvin (Leon-Bluestem HS) 3-2 (Fall 3:48); won by fall over Brooke Hill (Chapman) 2-3 (Fall 5:13); won by fall over Keilah Heit (Ellis HS) 0-4 (Fall 0:47); and won by fall over Joy Rhines (Chapman) 3-1 (Fall 4:49).

120: Maddox Hughes (37) placed 5th. He won a 6-3 decision in sudden victory 1 over Quinn Kymer (Concordia HS; lost a 1-18 tech fall to Xzephren Donner (Russell HS/Sylvan-Lucas Unified HS) 5-1; lost by fall to Levi Willmann (Chapman HS) 7-3 (Fall 0:16); lost by fall to Octavio Rodriguez (Ellsworth HS) 5-3 (Fall 3:47); and lost by fall to Kegen Wheeler (Minneapolis/ Bennington) 9-3
(Fall 1:28). 126: Mason Hughes (7-5) placed 6th. He lost by fall to Jeremiah Frey (Chapman HS) 9-2 (Fall 3:29); won by fall over Kaleb Ives Thull (Russell HS/Sylvan-Lucas Unified HS) 1-5 (Fall 3:13); won by fall over Cameron Fern (Solomon HS) 1-7 (Fall 1:23); won a 16-4 major decision over Jayden Kloster (Gypsum-Southeast of Saline HS) 2-2; and received a bye.
132: Tate Scott (8-2) placed 2nd. He received a bye; won by fall over Chason Sauers (Minneapolis/ Bennington) 6-6 (Fall 4:58); won by fall over Stratton Cox (Gypsum-Southeast of Saline HS) 4-1 (Fall 2:15); and lost a 7-9 decision to Rett Bohl (Ellsworth HS) 5-1.
150: Fisher Hobbs won an 8-3 decision over Daniel Tucker (Overland Park-Blue Valley Southwest HS); lost by fall to John Lomax (Beloit HS) 2-4 (Fall 1:37); and lost by fall to Kade Riffel (Gypsum-Southeast of Saline HS) 2-2 (Fall 3:00).
157: Aiden Osborne (5-7) placed 5th. He won by fall over Wesson Carver (Solomon HS) 0-9 (Fall 4:41); lost a 2-17 tech fall to Slade Pickerill (Salina-South HS) 7-1; lost by fall to Blayde Pagel (Minneapolis/Bennington) 8-4 (Fall 0:40); lost by fall to Braigan Dinkel (Russell HS/Sylvan-Lucas Unified HS) 4-4 (Fall 1:13); and lost by fall to Ian Sayers (Chapman HS) 11-0 (Fall 0:01).
285: Killian Harrington (3-3) received a bye; lost a 2-3 decision in tie breaker-1 to Gabriel Dinger (Overland Park-Blue Valley Southwest HS) 2-2; won by fall over Preston Cox (Whitewater- Remington HS) 0-2 (Fall 0:36); and lost a 3-19 tech fall to Dylan Bailey (Leon-Bluestem HS) 9-2.
