Buck Signed To Run Cross Country & Track At Friends University
Eureka senior Rose Buck officially signed to compete in cross country and track at the collegiate level, last Thursday, Dec. 11, committing to Friends University, home of the Falcons.
Buck knew early on that competing at the next level was the goal, realizing as a freshman that collegiate athletics was something worth pursuing. When it came time to choose a school, Friends University stood out for all the right reasons. “The coaches really stood out to me, along with the facilities,” Buck shared, noting that both played a major role in the decision. Her father and sister also graduated from Friends University.
A dedicated and resilient athlete, Buck has found a deep appreciation for both sports. “I love cross country and track because of the competitiveness,” Buck said. “I like track more because it takes more resilience and has taught me a lot.” At Friends University, Buck plans to compete in the 6K for cross country and focus on mid-distance events in track.
Along with athletic success, Buck is committed to academic achievement and plans to pursue a degree in Health and Human Performance.
Buck leaves an impressive legacy at Eureka High School (EHS), having set four high school records: 5K: 19:04; 1 Mile: 5:13; 2 Mile: 11:41; 800 meters: 2:20.
