Area churches have planned events to observe the celebration of the birth of Christ this holiday season. The public is invited to attend the church or churches of their choice and hear the Christmas story as it is related through scripture. All are welcome to attend services. Those attending do not have to be members of any of the churches.
Christ Lutheran Church & Upper Fall River Church December events at Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) included Advent Bible Study and Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve service will be held at CLC at 6:30 p.m. Special music will begin at 6 p.m.
Church of the Nazarene
The Church of t h e Nazarene in Severy will be having a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. for anyone who would like to join.
Climax United Methodist Church
A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24. A bake sale will follow the service.
Eureka United Methodist Church
Celebrate Peace, Love, Joy, & Hope at the Advent Service Sunday, Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Fellowship Coffee.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24: Christmas Eve Candlelight service will be held at 6 p.m.
Greenwood County Catholic Churches
Greenwood County Catholic Churches will offer several Holy Day and Christmas masses in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, “Christmas-The Nativity of Our Lord” will be held at 5 p.m. with Mass, at St. Teresa, in Madison; and at 7 p.m. with Mass, at Sacred Heart, in Eureka.
Special mass will be held on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m., at St. John, in Hamilton and at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart, in Eureka.
Jefferson Street Baptist Church
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 6-7 p.m., JSBC will host Christmas Eve Service.
Piedmont & Toronto United Methodist Churches
Piedmont UMC Christmas celebration will be held on Dec. 21 at 9:45 a.m. with the Piedmont Band. Christmas Eve Service will be held at Toronto UMC at 5:30 p.m. and Climax UMC at 7:30 p.m.
Neal United Methodist Church
The Neal United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Lawrence.
Neal Evangelical Free Church
The Neal Evangelical Free Church invites all to join them for worship any of the Sundays during advent as they light the Advent Candles looking forward to the celebration of the coming of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ as a baby in Bethlehem many years ago.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m., the church will hold regular Advent morning worship. At 5 p.m., Christmas Caroling will begin. Those participating are asked to meet at the church to go caroling and deliver fruit baskets. A soup supper will follow at the church.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m., the church will hold Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion.
