JH Tornadoes Won Three Over Lions

Eureka’s junior high basketball teams made the short trip to Leon last Thursday, Dec. 11, to face the Lions of Bluestem. The Tornadoes went 3-1 over the Lions, only falling in an aggressive match-up.

The Lady Tornadoes were outmatched by the aggressive Lions. Eureka fell behind in the first 4-9, and couldn’t combat the defense in the remaining quarters. The Lady Tornadoes trailed 13-18 at half and 19-27 before falling 21-38. Scoring for Eureka were Molly Dehlinger 8, Bella Damron 7, Kaylee Palmer 4 and Kinsley Cox 2.

In B-team action, the Lady Tornadoes claimed a 12-10 victory in two quarters. Eureka went 8-2 in the first and held on in the second to claim the win. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Khloe Crisswell 6 and Cox, Braxtyn Evenson and Brielle Thompson all with 2.

Eureka boys came to play, with both the A and B-teams claiming victories.

In the A-team game, Eureka outscored the Lions in all four quarters. To start the game, the Tornadoes led 9-6 and 20-8 at halftime. Eureka was unable to score in the third but maintained a 20-12 victory. The Tornadoes held the Lions scoreless in the final stanza and won the game 29-12. Scoring for Eureka were Cord Adkins 12, Felix Neill 8, Liam Mead 5 and Gavin Gonzalez 2.

The Tornado boys B-team were slow to start, only scoring 2 in the first quarter. Despite the slow start, Eureka held a 2-0 lead and slowly pulled away from Bluestem. At halftime, the Tornadoes led 8-4. Eureka dominated in the third to lead 18-4. Both teams scored four points in the fourth with Eureka claiming a 22-8 win. Scoring for Eureka were Jessn Ogden 10, Cooper Wunderlich 5, Brandon Cornett, Ry’Shaun Richardson and Tucker Damron all with 2 and Brannon Blakley 1.
