Eureka Businesswomen

The Eureka businesswomen met on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at TNT Catering in Eureka. There were 13 members present. Roll call was answered by “Your favorite Christmas Movie?”

Minutes of the last meeting were given and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given and approved as read. The funding total from the bake sale was $698.

Announcements were made. Jayme Lewis, representing the Greenwood County Health Department, gave an update regarding the Blessing Box located at their office. Tonya Casper, representing The Gym in Eureka, reminded everyone about the fundraiser on Dec. 20 at Memorial Hall from 5-7 p.m. There will be Carriage rides, Chili, Chili Cookoff and a Hot Chocolate Bar. There is a cost for the carriage rides, chili, and chili cookoff. A card was passed around for everyone to sign for Lisa at S&L Hardware to let her know the club is thinking about her. Beth Whitehead reminded the club about the Christmas on Main Street put on by Marshall PTA on Dec. 3. Whitehead also reported that the school fundraiser items will be available for pick up on Dec. 4. Tammi Burtin received a letter from Eureka High School asking if the club will be offering scholarships this year to Seniors. Burtin also informed the club that there will be a survey on the USD 389 Facebook page for the community to complete to help with the search for a new superintendent.

The businesswoman of the month was Jennifer White. She was unable to attend the meeting.

There was no program for the evening.

Audra Hemingway made a motion to donate $200 to S&L Hardware due to the recent tragedy they experienced. The motion was seconded by Whitehead. The club voted and the motion passed. Diana Cole made a motion to donate $50 to the Eureka Wellspring Committee and $50 to the Marshall Special Needs Fund. Motion was seconded by Mary Ann Thornton. The motion passed.

Door prizes were won by Whitehead and Vicki French.

The club sang Happy Birthday to Ashley Boles.

Hostess for the evening was Boles.

The club closed with Club Collect.
