West Elk wrestlers began their season last Friday and Saturday in Caney for the KanOkla tournament.
The Lady Patriots competed on Friday with freshman Haylee Knight claiming first place honors.
West Elk boys made the trip to Caney on Saturday, where two junior varsity wrestlers claimed hardware, including a first place finish.
Following are the results for West Elk wrestlers: KanOkla Girls 130 JV B: Maggie Humphrey (0-3) placed 4th. She lost by fall to Elyse Breckenridge (Douglass HS) 3-0 (Fall 0:23); lost by fall to Maddie Miller (Girard HS) 2-1 (Fall 0:17); and lost a 1315 decision to Kaylee Sharp (Independence HS) 1-2.
170 JV B: Haylee Knight (2-0) placed 1st. She won by fall over Zoey Keitzer (Longton- Elk Valley HS) 0-2 (Fall 0:17); won an 8-2 decision over Elaina Garcia (Columbus HS) 1-1; and received a bye.
KanOkla Boys 106 Varsity: Welch Murphy (0-2) lost by fall to Brodie Spencer (Pittsburg HS) 2-1 (Fall 0:39); and lost by fall to Rylan Hilyard (Douglass HS) 1-2 (Fall 1:28).
190 Varsity: Landon Wunderlich (1-2) lost by fall to DeMarus Partee (Pittsburg HS) 3-0 (Fall 1:10); won by fall over Logan Squier (Leon-Bluestem HS / Rosalia- Flinthills HS) 0-2 (Fall 1:43); and lost a 19-22 decision in sudden victory - 1 to Owen Murphy (Girard HS/ Arma-Northeast HS) 2-1.
285 Varsity: Edward Metcalf lost by fall to Dylan Bailey (Leon-Bluestem HS / Rosalia-Flinthills HS) 3-1 (Fall 1:30); won by fall over Jimmy Mikucki (Altamont- Labette County HS) 0-2 (Fall 1:49); won by fall over Jordin Goss (BARTLESVILLE) 1-2 (Fall 1:35); and lost by fall to Ramon Ballin (Iola HS) 3-1 (Fall 0:14).
132 JV: Noah Estrada (1-2) placed 3rd. He won by fall over Bently Johnson (Altamont-Labette County HS) 0-3 (Fall 4:00); lost by fall to Harley Blankenship (Iola HS) 2-1 (Fall 2:56); and lost by fall to Easton Peace (BARTLESVILLE) 4-0 (Fall 0:24).
165 JVB: Corbin Arbuckle (2-0) placed 1st. He received a bye; won by fall over Isaiah Hill (Humboldt HS) 1-1 (Fall 2:32); and won by fall over Kyler Williams (Fredonia HS) 0-2 (Fall 0:11).
