The Howard City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the Nov. 17 meeting, which were approved during their most recent meeting on Dec. 1.
Mayor Richard Clark called the Nov. 17 meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Howard City Office with Council members Martin Hunter, Shilo Crupper, Gary Harrod, Derek Cookson and Jerrad Pope present. Also present were Clay Hunter, Bradley Baumgartel and City Clerk Joanna Hunter.
City financial reports were reviewed, with the council approving the payment of bills, totaling $40,006.22.
Clay Hunter, Gas Superintendent, gave a report on future gas valve inspection and replacement plans. The City is following KCC recommendations and USDI has scheduled an inspection for later this month.
Mayor Clark opened bids for a $200,500 CD that matured the week of the meeting. The council approved renewing the CD at Howard State Bank.
The council approved the Nov. 3 meeting minutes; payment of $150 for assistance with Christmas streetlights in January; payment for sewer work regarding a main clog in October; purchase a service truck at $16,995 pending inspection and reports; and approved the Mayor appointing the municipal court judge pending the discussed person’s acceptance.
Other discussion included: Office policy for discontinuation of penny currency; City Library and PWWSD#23 recent meeting minutes; Official election results are in, new mayor and 2 council members scheduled to take office on January 19.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
The council also held a scheduled meeting on Monday, Dec. 1. Their next meeting is slated for Monday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
