Toronto News

It’s officially Christmas season. Santa and Mrs. Claus came to town Saturday evening and brought the cold weather from up North with them. Many parents and grandparents brought their kids to the Ignite Building in town for pictures with Santa and while there they got to make Christmas ornaments with help from Bob Barrera.

Hot cocoa and cookies were available also as well as gifts in the back room that kids could pick out for a parent and helpers were on hand to wrap them. The Toronto Volunteer Fire Dept had a chili and soup supper that night, also, at the Senior Center. Many people came to town Saturday evening for both events.

What is “Epistaxis?” Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they rest in peace.

The store front windows of Grumpy Bear Trading post are very festive right now. If you haven’t driven down Main Street lately, you should. There are places around town also that have their decorations and lights up. Sadly the city hasn’t put up their Christmas lights and decorations yet.

I know they’ve been busy. Had a water line break on east Grand Sunday evening. I’m sure water works employees everywhere hate to see cold weather get here as it is very hard on the old, old water pipes underground.

The Toronto United Methodist Church will be having a Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. This is my all time favorite event at church. It’s great to see so many people come together to celebrate the reason for the season and sing favorite Christmas Carols.

Everyone gets a chance to request their favorite song and then we light candles, sing and finish with “Silent Night” with the lights out. If you’ve never attended a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, now is your chance to do so.
