Eureka senior Rose Buck delivered another standout performance, this time on the national stage, earning a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in the 17–18 age division at the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
Competing for the Brocaw Blazers, Buck placed 8th overall with a time of 20:01.80, a result that secured her 3rd place within the 17–18 age group. She finished just behind Brocaw Blazers teammate Irelyn Kennedy (19:18.31) and Josie Kinnaman of HP Distance (19:35.12).
The Brocaw Blazers also shined in team competition, capturing the overall team title in the 5,000-meter run with a combined time of 1:42:30.51, averaging 20:30.11 across scoring runners. The program also claimed top team honors in the girls 15–16 division and swept the boys division, highlighting a dominant showing across age groups.
Runners in the 15–16 and 17–18 races competed together on the course, though team awards and top 25 individual honors were separated by age group.
Buck hopes to continue her cross country career at the collegiate level next fall. She is the daughter of Dan and Rose Buck of Eureka.
