Area churches have planned events to observe the celebration of the birth of Christ this holiday season. The public is invited to attend the church or churches of their choice and hear the Christmas story as it is related through scripture. All are welcome to attend services. Those attending do not have to be members of any of the churches.
Eureka United Methodist Church
Celebrate Peace, Love, Joy, & Hope at the Advent Services Sundays, Dec. 7, 14, and 21 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Fellowship Coffee.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, the EUMC will host a free “Breakfast with Santa event from 8-10 a.m.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, the Kid’s Club will sing during worship.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24: Christmas Eve Candlelight service will be held at 6 p.m.
Neal United Methodist Church
The Neal United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Lawrence.
Greenwood County Catholic Churches
Greenwood County Catholic Churches were offer several Holy Day and Christmas masses in the coming weeks.
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception will be held on Monday, Dec. 8, at 5:30 p.m. with Mass, at St. Teresa, in Madison and at 7 p.m. with Mass, at Sacred Heart, in Eureka.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, “Christmas-The Nativity of Our Lord” will be held at 5 p.m. with Mass, at St. Teresa, in Madison; and at 7 p.m. with Mass, at Sacred Heart, in Eureka.
Special mass will be held on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m., at St. John, in Hamilton and at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart, in Eureka.
Jefferson Street Baptist Church
The Jefferson Street Baptist Church (JSBC) will hold its Christmas Music program on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 10:45 a.m. The special program will be followed by lunch.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m., the church will hold “Christian Jam,” a time for people to come and play music together.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 6-7 p.m., JSBC will host Christmas Eve Service.
Christ Lutheran Church & Upper Fall River Church December events at Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) included Advent Bible Study and Luncheon at noon on Wednesdays Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, CLC will host its Christmas youth skit during the 10:30 a.m. Also on Sunday, Dec. 14, members will gather at Upper Fall River Church for Cookies & Carols at 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve service will be held at CLC at 6:30 p.m. Special music will begin at 6 p.m.
Neal Evangelical Free Church
The Neal Evangelical Free Church invites all to join them for worship any of the Sundays during advent as they light the Advent Candles looking forward to the celebration of the coming of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ as a baby in Bethlehem many years ago.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m., the church will host its Christmas Program“Names Of Jesus,” featuring music from the adult and children’s choirs and drama by various children and adults of the congregation.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m., the church will hold regular Advent morning worship. At 5 p.m., Christmas Caroling will begin. Those participating are asked to meet at the church to go caroling and deliver fruit baskets. A soup supper will follow at the church.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m., the church will hold Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion.
