As the Eureka Wellspring (EWS) enters its 10th year of sharing blessings with others, organizers are looking to change it up this year.
With volunteers declining, organizers are looking at ways to continue to share blessings in a quicker and easier method.
Volunteers first joined together for this effort in 2016, with hopes of simply sharing a blessing with other community members.
In their first year, the group blessed 30 families. Since then, it has grown to blessing more than 150 families.
The annual blessings are intended simply to “give a blessing to others” and this year, the group is using the following quote by Tinku Razoria to keep them focused on the true meaning of Christmas, “Some gifts are big. Others are small. But the ones that come from the heart are the best gifts of all.”
This community kindness project is possible solely through the community’s help with monetary donations. In the past, the group accepted food donations; however, with the change of direction they are asking for monetary donations only.
“This is meant solely as a blessing, not due to financial needs. Let’s pay it forward and continue to bless our community the best way we can,” stated organizers Marilee McCoy, Melissa Beitz and Christina Harrison.

“Please do not expect a blessing, but make sure you are blessing others in any way you can, whether it be through this community project or blessing your neighbor directly in a small or big way,” stated EWS organizers.
Monetary donations can be made payable to Eureka Wellspring (EWS) and be mailed in care of Emprise Bank, 418 N. Main, Eureka, KS 67045 or dropped off at The Eureka Herald, 822 E. River St., Ste 100, PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045 or at Marshall Elementary School, 1015 N. Jefferson St., in Eureka. Any non-perishable food items that are received will be given to the local food pantry.
Each year, EWS starts with a blank slate and accepts names of individuals and families who are deserving of an extra blessing this holiday season.
Nominations for others are being accepted. If you know of someone that you would like to bless with an anonymous gift, email eurekachristmaswellspring@ gmail.com, which is the best form to use. Please include the person who you wish to bless name(s), address and phone number.
The deadline for blessing nominations and monetary donations is Friday, Dec. 12.
Elves will then distribute the blessings between Dec.15-20.
