Each week The Herald will ask a random question, both on the opinion page of the weekly paper and on

Facebook© page. Responses should be mailed to PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045, e-mailed to [email protected] with “Coffee Shop Talk” in the subject; dropped off at our office, 822 E. River, in Eureka or made on The Eureka Herald’s Facebook© page.

The “Question of the Week” for last week was: “What is the greatest lesson you learned from your parents?”

Following are the responses: Janice Brown* - “There are so many life lessons that come to mind, but the most significant was sowing the seeds and nurturing our Christian faith. My younger sister and I had over 10 years of perfect attendance at Sunday School to be followed by many hours sitting together in a pew as a family during the sermons. Everything important as to how to live was taught at those times and reinforced at home.”

Merry Barrentine* “When we would go to the store, if the person in front of us didn’t have enough money dad would cover it. I carry on his tradition.”

Deana Gaines* - Don’t walk so far your feet can’t carry you back.”

Susan Epperson* - “A man or woman is only as good as their word. So if you can’t totally trust in someone don’t go into any business venture with them. Back then a handshake sealed a deal.”

Brandy L Cookson* - “ Manners. We answered the phone by announcing “Cookson residence, how may I help you?” Sir and ma’am were the rule and please and thank you were not just suggestions.”

Crissa Johnson* - “You can only count on yourself” Sean Davis* “Kenworth’s are not natural born swimmers.”

Msrjorie Morgan* - “You can do what you want. Don’t think you can’t change jobs.”

Dianne Branine* - “Much like Janice. As a family we attended church every Sunday. Be honest and think of others when you know they are having troubles of any kind.”

Tami J. Hart-Hawthorne* - “Responsibility & Respect.”

Jeanette Carter* - “Be honest and show grace.”

Patricia N Richard Soule* - “Hard work” Taylor Hunt* - “Never trust anyone who cranks a spinning reel upside down.”

Ben Fox* - “Words to live by...”
