The Eureka Tornado High School cheer team will be returning to the 2A State Cheer event in Topeka this Saturday, Nov. 22, with hopes of once again claiming hardware.
Eureka made school history last school year as they claimed third place at 2A State Cheer in Topeka.
The Lady Tornadoes will compete in preliminaries at 3:39 p.m., with the finals announcement being made at 3:56 p.m. 2A Finals will begin at 4:31 p.m. The award announcement for 2A State will start at 5:10 p.m.
The Tornadoes will perform a crowd leading cheer, band chant and fight song.
State Game Day cheer will be held at the Topeka-Stormont Vail Events Center, located at 1 Expocentre Drive.
At Battle of the Squads over the weekend, EHS Cheer brought home the only Superior Rating.
Donations are currently being accepted to assist with entry fees for those riding the pep bus. Donations should be made payable to EJSHS with EHS Cheer in the Memo Line, and mailed to 815 N. Jefferson, Eureka, KS 67045.
Squad members include seniors Miley Baumgartel, Taryn Burk and Ava Noble; junior Lizzy Foth; sophomores Jersey Cox, Karsyn Osborne, Monica Sanchez and Lylly Stapleford; and freshmen Emma Baumgartel, Abbi Foth, Celona Hall and McKenna McDonald.
The team is coached by Anna Noble.
