Lemons Named Eureka Businesswomen Of The Month

The Eureka Businesswomen met on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at TNT Catering in Eureka. There were 14 members and one guest present. Guest was Sonjia Lemons, who was the busin e s swo m an of the month and program for the evening. Roll call was a n swe r e d by “What are your Thanksgiving plans?”

Mi n u t e s of the last meeting were given and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given and approved as read.

Announcements were made. Jayme Lewis, representing Greenwood County Health De p a r t ment, spoke about the Blessing Box located at their office. The goal is to leave what you can and take what you need. They accept nonp erish able food items, health and beauty products and any other items you would like to donate. They are creating a Facebook page for the blessing box so updates can be posted. Tammi Burtin announced the Veteran’s Day program was scheduled to be held at Marshall Elementary School (MES) on Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. The program was hosted by the local sixth grade students at MES. Tonya Casper representing The Gym in Eureka, announced they will have a fundraiser on Dec. 20, at Memorial Hall from 5-7 p.m. They will be having Carriage rides, Chili, a chili cookoff and a hot chocolate bar.

The club signed congratulation cards for two of the club’s members that recently got married, Tami Jackson-Hawthorne and Paige Samuels.

Lemons will be presented with a certificiate. She is currently employed at the Greenwood County Hospital. Lemons is the Director of Nursing. She has been emplyeod at the hospital since February.

Lemons presented the program for the evening. She is currently working on getting the hospital to become a Level 4 Trauma facility. She is working on EMS transfers with Greenwood County EMS. She is working building up Swing Bed services and the hospital. She is also working in implementing Daisy Awards for nursing staff and Bee Awards for the non-nursing personnel. These are awards for recognition for staff going above and beyond. These awards are nominated by co-workers and patients.

Door prizes were won by Mary Ann Thornton, Genell Garner, Lewis, Lois Stewart, Burtin and LaTisha Smalley.

The club sang “Happy Birthday” to Beth Whitehead, who had a November birthday.

Hostess for the evening was Sandy Dickerson.

The club closed with the Club Collect.
