Greenwood County Resident Critically Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident Friday Evening

A two-vehicle accident on Highway 54, at the intersection of H Road, left a Greenwood County resident in critical condition, last Friday, Nov. 7.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigation indicates that Joseph Becker, 19, of rural Greenwood County, was operating a 2006 Ford Focus and was stopped in the eastbound lane of U54 Highway, awaiting a left turn onto H Road. At that time, a second eastbound vehicle, a 2002 Mercury Villager driven by James Boykin, 30, of Eureka, struck Becker’s vehicle from behind in a rear-end collision, just shortly before 8 p.m.

Becker was transported to Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka and later lifeflighted to a Wichita hospital for his injuries. Boykin was not injured.

Eureka Rescue and Greenwood County EMS assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.
