Various County Boards/Councils To See New Faces In January

Although not official, the November general election unofficial results note that various boards/councils throughout the county will see new faces in January as they take office.

A new face will be joining the Eureka City Council as Miranda J. Colangelo received 73 votes, defeating incumbent Richard Drake, who received 33 votes, for Ward 1. Incumbent Dan L. Campbell will continue to serve on the council as he received 47 of the 53 votes cast. Incumbent Jeffrey Marks will also continue to serve on the council as he received 90 of the 103 votes cast.

Unofficial write-in votes were counted late last week; however, staff planned to review them this week as several were not eligible for specific positions.

For example, two Eureka residents actively campaigned for Eureka USD 389 Position 4. Both received votes in Position 4, 5 and 6. Regardless of vote count, they aren’t eligible to accept the position for seat 5 or 6, due to not residing in that area.
