Eureka Lady Tornado Rose Buck claimed her fourth state medal on Saturday, Nov. 1, claiming bronze at the 2A State Cross Country meet at Wamego Country Club.
Buck claimed third place, with a time of 19:45.51. She also placed third during her junior year, with a time of 20:17.93. Buck placed sixth at the state meet her sophomore year, with a time of 20:09.82 and claimed a ninth place finish at the 3A meet her freshman year, completing the race with a time of 20:17.1.
Smith Center’s Madison Howland claimed the 2A Girls title this year, with a time of 19:16.77 and Leon Bluestem’s Reagan Neal was second with a time of 19:29.63.
Eureka was also represented at the state tourn ament by fellow senior Britta Mongeau, who made her third state appearance.
She comp leted the 5K race with a time of 23:08.17. During her junior year, she placed 13th, with a time of 21:27.04. A total of 107 2A lady cross country runners qualified for the state meet. Buck is the daughter of Dan and Pam Buck of Eureka. Mon geau is the daughter of Brian and Vandetta Mongeau of Eureka.
