Jerry D. “J.D.” Reed, 77, of Augusta, died on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025 in Wichita.
He was born in Harper, on June 11, 1948, the son of Norma (Carr) and Herman Tillman Reed.
He attended schools in Harper and later graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in Education and Secondary Guidance and Counseling.
He was a dairy farmer for much of his life raising Jersey cattle, owning/operating Reed Jersey Farm. He later worked as a guard at El Dorado Correctional Facility.
He is survived by: one son, Heath Reed of El Dorado; one daughter, Brittany Dennis-McLeod Pennsburg, Penns.; two sisters, Connie Causey of Texas and Shari Pope of Harper; one brother, Denzil Reed of Harper; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bryce Grove.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 27, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial followed at Quito Cemetery, near Leon.
