Two Eureka runners punched their tickets to state last Saturday, Oct. 25, during a rainy/muddy Regional, at Wichita Trinity.
Lady Tornado seniors Rose Buck and Britta Mongeau will represent Eureka at the 2A State meet at Wamego Country Club this Saturday, Nov. 1.
Buck was named Regional Runner-Up, finishing the 5K with a time of 21:19.4. This will be her fourth state appearance. Last year, she claimed third place at 2A State with a time of 20:17.93. She placed sixth at 2A State at Wamego Country Club with a time of 20:09.82, during her sophomore year and placed ninth at the 3A meet her freshman year.
Mongeau placed 10th at Regionals with a time of 23:05.9. This will be her third state appearance. She placed 13th at the 2A State contest last year, with a time of 20:17.1. She also qualified for State her sophomore year.
Also representing Eureka at the Wichita Trinity Regional was freshman Tavin Austin who placed 38th with a time of 26:18.7.
Buck and Mongeau will compete in the 2A Girls race which begins at 12:55 p.m. The awards ceremony will be held at 1:50 p.m.
