Donations are currently coming in for the 12th annual Greater Emporia Area Match Day, hosted by the Emporia Community Foundation.
The official event doesn’t take place until Monday, Nov. 17 but donations are now being accepted. Individuals can donate cash, checks, grain, or livestock, or use their IRA by gifting their required minimum distribution. Online donations will be available beginning at midnight on Nov. 17.
Emporia Community Foundation Executive Director, Linda Kehres- Schmidt, encourages donors to take advantage of the early giving opportunity. “We invite the community to stop by the office to learn about the agencies benefiting from the Greater Emporia Area Match Day event. The excitement is building, and this unique opportunity allows donors to support their favorite cause and make an even greater impact through the matching dollars available. We offer a variety of ways to give which allows more individuals to be involved.”
The matching pool for this year’s event consists of $170,000 in funding made possible through the generosity of several donors.
Last year’s Match Day event set a record, raising $769,253.21 in support of 35 nonprofits in the Greater Emporia Area. Since inception in 2013 the event has led to almost $3.10 million being disbursed to nearly 60 non-profits in Lyon and surrounding counties.
