The October meeting was called to order by President Caylin Luthi on Oct. 1.
Kathryn Curry led the club into saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. The roll call was “What is your favorite Disney Character?” Roll call was answered by 38 members, two cloverbuds, and two leaders. A quorum was present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read aloud by secretary Jorja Beeman and were approved by signing by President Caylin Luthi. Brynn Roth gave a treasurers report. There was no reporter's report given. Brynn Roth, Council Representative, said that at their most recent meeting, they discussed dates for the upcoming 4-H year.
Ty Gaines gave his leader's report, congratulating all participants of the carcass contest, Kansas State Fair and all of the people who turned in their record books. Gaines made notice to the deadline for KYLF is Oct. 15. Officer training was on Oct. 15. RSVPs were needed by Oct. 10. The older club members will be presenting at Madison Elementary School on Oct. 8 for National 4-H Week which is Oct. 5-12. The Achievement banquet is Nov. 12. The Cattlemens banquet is Nov. 1.
In committee reports, standing committees, Island cleanup, a report was given by the Miller and Kaleb Shankie families. The group will be cleaning the Island on Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Maria Luthi said that 4-H banners will be put up this week. Standing committee for 4-H Sunday: Luthi Family, at Lamont Weslyan on Oct. 12 at 10:20 a.m. The Fankhauser family with trunk or treat on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
There was no old business.
In new business, Mason McDonald moved to continue Junk in a Bucket, B. Roth seconded it, and the motion was passed. Rylee Darbro moved to put forward $170 for a countywide shared freezer at the fairgrounds, Wyatt Hoag seconded it and the motion was passed. Roth moved to donate $100 for members going to KYLF, M. McDonald seconded it and the motion passed. Beeman moved to have a float at Cattlemens day, Cooper Luthi seconded it and the motion passed. Reese Hurlburt moved to approve the new officers in their positions, Tess Fankhauser seconded it and the motion passed. Beeman moved to change the name “Wyatt Hoag” on the bank account and remove “Brynn Roth.”
The gavel was then passed to the Vice President Cooper Luthi for the program, Happy Birthday was sung to Grant Fankhauser and Hiatt Seaton. Officer elections were then held, new officers: President: Caylin Luthi, Vice President: Cooper Luthi, Secretary: Beeman, Treasurer: W. Hoag, Historian: B. Roth, Reporter: Haddie Mae Seaton, Parliamentarian: M. McDonald, Song Leader: Rylee Darbro, Recreation Leader: Peyton Hoag, Council Representatives: Caylin Luthi, B. Roth, M. McDonald, and Alternate: W. Hoag. Junior Officers: President Kenyon Curry, Vice President: Laikyn Henke, Secretary: Kiah Luthi, Treasurer: Jenna Conley, Reporter: John Curry, Historian: Carver McDonald, and Parliamentarians: Lane Henke, Pate Schankie, Gage Gibson, Colt Miller, Kathryn Curry, and Gunner Gaines. The gavel was then passed back to Caylin Luthi for the remainder of the meeting.
M. McDonald moved to adjourn the meeting by saying the 4-H motto, Cooper Luthi seconded it, and the motion passed. Kathryn Curry led the club in saying the 4-H motto and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting is Nov. 5 at the Sauder Center.
