A landmark in Eureka, the Veterans Memorial Wall on Main Street, has been restored.
In August of this year, it was shared that nearly $12,000 was needed for the urgent restoration project. Through donations, the project was able to be completed last week, with crews spending approximately three days taking steps to properly remove, dowel, and reset the stones with a water barrier and stone adhesive.
With the project, the Greenwood County All Veterans Memorial fund was depleted.
As organizers know future maintenance will be needed, donations are being accepted to build the fund.
Most recently, the Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club held a fundraiser with baked treats, lunch options and also accepted donations, which raised $2,621.47 for the cause.
Those wishing to assist with future maintenance needs can send donations to: Greenwood County All Veterans Memorial, which can be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
