Patriot Football Fell To Northeast Arma

The West Elk Patriot football team hosted the Vikings of Northeast Arma last Friday, falling 18-68.

West Elk scored on a 26-yard pass from Jaxson Bogdahn to Jerad Tucker; a 3-yard run by Brock Baumgartel and a 27yard pass from Bodgahn to Brycen Hobbs. They were unsuccessful on all three pass plays for the two-point conversion attempts.

“This game felt like deja vu from last week. We came out strong in the first half, executing our game plan effectively, but we couldn’t maintain that momentum after halftime,” stated head coach Ian Denton. “Mental errors piled up, leading to negative plays on offense, and we’re not yet at the level where we can dig ourselves out of those holes. Hats off to Arma—they capitalized on third-and-long and fourth-down situations, converting first downs and sustaining drives that turned into points. Moving forward, it’s on us as coaches to better prepare our team to compete consistently for all four quarters.”

Bogdahn completed 8 of 18 attempts for 107 yards. He connected with Hobbs 3 times for 47 yards; Trace Toon 2 times for 19 yards; Tucker 2 times for 34 yards and Ethan Bliss 1 time for 7 yards.

Next week, the Patriots will face Burden at Burden.

“Burden’s record matches ours, but they’ve shown more consistency against common opponents. To compete in this game, we need to bring our best for all four quarters,” stated Denton. “Like us, they’re relying on a lot of young players who are growing week by week. Coach Lampert will have their squad fired up and ready to go on Friday. We look forward to the challenge and another opportunity to improve,” he concluded.
