Letter To The Editor

(Editor’s Note: Each week, The Herald poses a “Question of the Week” on their facebook page with many responding. Comments made on the posts, may or may not be factual in nature and are to be noted as that person’s comment only.)

Dear Robin, The Class of 1976 celebrated their 50 year class reunion at the Eureka High School (EHS) Homecoming Festivities on Friday, October 3, 2025, with 40 classmates in attendance. In EHS grand tradition, we were greeted that morning by the EHS cheerleaders and given a tour of the school building. Classmates thoroughly enjoyed touring the beautiful facilities and interacting with the students and staff.

Later, we enjoyed an awesome lunch made by the topnotch cooks and served by the EHS Student Council and staff. After lunch we attended the Homecoming assembly and were recognized as the old people of the Class of 1976. (only kidding). Then we boarded our float and away we went on the parade route throwing candy and playing that grand ol 70’s music. Oh what fun!

On to the football game against Bluestem and what a game to see. The mighty Tornadoes provided an evening of excitement and best of all a VICTORY! To see the stadium full of fans and the Tornado pride overflowing just made an awesome end to a day full of celebration. It’s great to see the football program back on the map and having success. Hats off to the coaches, staff and volunteers for your efforts in rebuilding the program and working with the younger children to build a strong foundation.

The courtesy and hospitality showed to us throughout the day by the students and staff was greater than words can describe. To attend an event like the traditional EHS Homecoming festivities and get to interact with the kids just proves there are LOTS of great kids and EJSHS has an abundance. Be proud!

I am grateful to The Eureka Herald for always attending events and capturing the chaos on camera.

You are the best!

Lots of planning, organizing and hard work goes into the Homecoming festivities and we appreciate all involved. Your hard work was much appreciated and we hope future classes celebrating 50 years will have as much fun as we did.

The event was perfect from start to finish and all those involved should be commended.

GO BIG RED! Deb Burtin Class of 1976
