Coffee Shop Talk

A place for our readers to get to know each other!

(Editor’s Note: Each week, The Herald poses a “Question of the Week” on their facebook page with many responding. Comments made on the posts, may or may not be factual in nature and are to be noted as that person’s comment only.)

Each week The Herald will ask a random question, both on the opinion page of the weekly paper and on The Eureka Herald Facebook© page. Responses should be mailed to PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045, e-mailed to [email protected] with “Coffee Shop Talk” in the subject; dropped off at our office, 822 E. River, in Eureka or made on The Eureka Herald’s Facebook© page.

The “Question of the Week” for last week was: “Why is a community newspaper important to you?”

Following are the responses: Pam Sweany* - “My daughter and I moved to 3002 W. Hwy 50, Emporia, KS www.jnford.com

Eureka in April of 2024. I hadn’t lived in a small community since I was a teen, and she never had. We LOVE the Herald. We know so much more about the town and it’s people because we subscribe. I get the e-version because I can carry it with me anywhere and keep it to refer to. She gets a physical paper because she loves interacting with it and she cuts out recipes for her cooking scrapbook. In many ways the community paper is Eureka to us. Thanks for being here!”

Kim Rogers* - “I’m not in town much and like to keep up with what’s going on at home.”

Barbara Clopton* “Community journalism at its finest, inspiring stories every week” Msrjorie Morgan* - “How is a person to find out about utilities going up, road closing, ads who died, who born, who wed. Love Toronto new s. Be nice if our paper has stuff like it. Can’t think what would happen if not have it.”
