1937 – 2025
Lucille Marie Starkebaum was born on September 6, 1937, in Yates Center, Kansas. She was the eighth of ten children born to Arthur Frederick Starkebaum and Caroline May Pantle Starkebaum. As the youngest daughter, Lucille often joked that she was the most spoiled of the family. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on October 4, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah, following a brief battle with heart issues and pneumonia.
Lucille grew up on a hay farm in Vernon, Kansas. Af- ter a fire destroyed the family's hay barn, they moved to Yates Center, where she graduated from Yates Center High School.
On January 6, 1956, Lucille married Winifred Lee Brown. They lived in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and had a son and a daughter together before later divorcing.
She married Everett Eldon Logan on December 1, 1960. Everett adopted Lucille’s two children, Everett Jr. (JR) and Lucinda (Cindy), and together they welcomed another daughter, Deniese. In 1962, the family moved to southern California, where Lucille worked for Harvey Aluminum.
In 1974, the family relocated to Texas, where Lucille enjoyed a brief career in marketing. After retiring, she worked as a crossing guard for the city of Hurst, Texas.
Lucille and her husband joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 22, 1975. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 3, 1978. She served in many capacities in the Church.
In 2019, Lucille and Everett moved to Utah to spend their later years with family here.
Lucille was a dedicated, loving mother and grandmother. She was also a talented artist, creating porcelain dolls, ceramics, and beautiful oil paintings. She also enjoyed collecting figurines, Avon bottles, and hol iday Barbies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings: Harold, Ethel, Raymond (Jack), Mildred, Donna, Lewis, John (Johnny), and Kenneth (Kenny). Lucille is survived by her brother, Ralph; her children: Everett Jr. (Debbie) Logan of Colleyville, Texas; Lucinda (Kirk) Blackburn of North Salt Lake, Utah; and Deniese (CA) Floyd of Piedmont, Kansas; ten grandchildren (Ryan, Chasta, Michael, Mark, Trey, Robert, Erin, Rachel, Thomas, and Ty); and fifteen great-grand children (Jamie, Garrett, Ava, Alyssa, Chanler, Porter, Cortney, Hunter, Hailey, Savanna, Charlotte, Oliver, Yianni, Nikolas, and Victoria).
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the chapel located at 875 West Foxboro Drive, North Salt Lake, Utah. A viewing was held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, and at the chapel from 9:30–10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment followed at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
